A Legacy of Style
Fit for the President
William Dudley, an immigrant shoemaker, established his footwear business in Newark, New Jersey, in 1850. That same year, he crafted a pair of shoes for President Millard Fillmore as a goodwill gesture and started a tradition that has lasted for more than 150 years. The footwear presented to President Barack Obama carries on that tradition; melding the personal style of the Commander in Chief with a classic look that’s unmistakably Johnston & Murphy.
